Electromechanical technician
The person in this position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of the company’s production equipment.
They perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities across the company’s manufacturing equipment fleet while actively contributing to continuous improvement, automation, and new equipment implementation projects.
This hands-on position requires a strong presence on the production floor and combines electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems work. The position also requires the ability to act as a technical resource for supervisors, team leaders, and operators.
Your Role
Preventive Maintenance
- Plan and perform preventive maintenance on the equipment fleet;
- Keep maintenance records and programs up to date;
- Conduct periodic equipment inspections;
- Check oil and lubricant levels, filters, and other routine maintenance components;
- Recommend the actions required to prevent equipment failures.
Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
- Review alarms displayed on operator interfaces;
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures;
- Troubleshoot production equipment during shutdowns or breakdowns;
- Identify the root causes of recurring failures;
- Carry out the required repairs or coordinate them when necessary;
- Perform electrical work primarily related to diagnosing and resolving issues in authorized control and power circuits;
- Support qualified electricians on site, with the possibility of accumulating hours toward obtaining a Class C electrical licence, where applicable;
- Ensure a fast and safe return to production;
- Receive, enter, and document corrective and preventive maintenance requests.
Equipment Repairs and Improvements
- Replace or refurbish defective parts and components;
- Repair or replace motors, sensors, variable-frequency drives, wiring harnesses, electrical wiring, and pneumatic and hydraulic components;
- Perform the required mechanical adjustments;
- Participate in modifying or improving existing machinery.
Automation and Robotics Projects
- Participate in robotics and automation projects;
- Collaborate on the implementation of new equipment;
- Participate in equipment commissioning;
- Perform functional testing and validation;
- Contribute to optimizing equipment performance.
Health and Safety
- Rigorously apply lockout/tagout procedures;
- Comply with all applicable occupational health and safety standards;
- Ensure equipment compliance and safety;
- Report any situation that poses a risk to people, equipment, or facilities;
- Help strengthen the company’s culture of equipment maintenance and machine safety.
Technical Support
- Advise supervisors, team leaders, and operators;
- Participate in resolving complex technical issues;
- Help train operators on equipment operating best practices.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the company’s technology and internal requirements evolve.

Education and Experience
- Diploma of Vocational Studies in Automated Systems Electromechanics, or equivalent training;
- Diploma of College Studies in Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Automation, or a related field considered an asset;
- Minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Experience in automation or robotics considered a major asset.
