The person in this role is responsible for the reliability, availability, and performance of Cotech’s production equipment. They carry out preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities while actively contributing to continuous improvement, automation, and new equipment implementation projects.

This role requires a strong presence on the production floor and combines electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated system interventions. The person also acts as a technical resource for supervisors, team leaders, and operators.

Your role

Preventive maintenance

  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment;
  • Maintain maintenance records and programs up to date;
  • Carry out periodic equipment inspections;
  • Check oil levels, lubricants, filters, and other routine maintenance components;
  • Recommend actions required to prevent equipment failures.

Diagnostics and troubleshooting

  • Review alerts and information available through operator interfaces;
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues;
  • Troubleshoot production equipment during shutdowns or failures;
  • Identify the root causes of recurring breakdowns;
  • Perform required repairs or coordinate them when necessary;
  • Ensure a fast and safe return to production.

Equipment repair and improvement

  • Replace or refurbish defective parts and components;
  • Repair or replace motors, sensors, drives, harnesses, wiring, and pneumatic or hydraulic components;
  • Perform required mechanical adjustments;
  • Participate in the modification and improvement of existing equipment.

Automation and robotics projects

  • Participate in robotics and automation projects;
  • Support the implementation of new equipment;
  • Participate in equipment commissioning;
  • Perform functional testing and validation;
  • Contribute to optimizing equipment performance.

Health and safety

  • Strictly apply lockout/tagout procedures;
  • Comply with applicable occupational health and safety standards;
  • Ensure equipment compliance and safe operation;
  • Report any situation that may present a risk to people or facilities.

Technical support

  • Advise supervisors, team leaders, and operators;
  • Participate in resolving complex technical issues;
  • Support operator training on proper equipment use and best practices.

Additional responsibilities may be added as the technology base and internal needs evolve.

The profile we are looking for

  • Vocational diploma in automated systems electromechanics or equivalent training;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Rigor and a strong sense of priorities;
  • High level of autonomy;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure;
  • Proactive, solution-oriented approach;
  • Excellent collaboration skills with operations teams;
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.

Experience

Essential technical skills

  • Electromechanical diagnostics;
  • Reading electrical and mechanical drawings;
  • Industrial electrical systems;
  • Industrial mechanical maintenance;
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems;
  • Use of measuring and diagnostic instruments;
  • Troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.

Important assets

  • College diploma in industrial maintenance, industrial automation, or a related field;
  • Experience in automation or robotics;
  • Industrial robotics;
  • Programmable logic controllers (PLCs);
  • Variable frequency drives;
  • Industrial networks;
  • Predictive maintenance;
  • Welding and light machining.
