The design of Cotech hydraulic thumbs is specifically adapted to your John Deere excavator model and OEM coupler. The structure and teeth are made of Hardox® 450 steel, which is more durable and lighter than conventional steel. Hydraulic thumbs are fixed for excavator models ranging from 1 to 2.9 tons. For 3 to 7 tons excavators, the thumbs are length-adjustable, and the widening kit allows the addition of more teeth. The bolted length adjustment makes it possible to adapt the thumb to the bucket size and the operator’s preferences.
In addition, the thumb pivots using the main axle, allowing it to follow the bucket movement at the teeth or cutting edge level, making material handling and retention easier. Its open-frame design provides excellent visibility when switching attachments. The cylinder is also equipped with an end-of-stroke damper to ensure smooth opening and closing.
